Installation | Hardscapes | Retaining Walls

Retaining walls are very useful and aesthetically pleasing in the landscape. Whether you need to solve an erosion problem, create a seating area next to a patio, create a new bed, or terrace a previously unworkable area there are several types of retaining walls to choose from. The most common type of retaining wall is the modular concrete block wall. They come in many various sizes, colors, and qualities and are usually installed on a compacted gravel bed with some type of drainage system behind the wall to prevent eventual water damage and settling. Natural stone is also a popular choice for retaining walls. Usually a little more expensive per square foot, natural stone retaining walls can be dry stacked or laid with mortar, depending on the type of stone used and the height of the wall. Walls that use smaller stone types and walls that exceed 1.5 feet are generally mortared. Timber walls are also a popular and relatively inexpensive version of retaining wall. They are useful in controlling erosion or terracing large areas economically while still being aesthetically pleasing. They are usually constructed with 6"x6" treated timbers and held in place with rebar and spikes. We can also do boulder walls. Retaining walls are often the most noticeable element of any landscape. Let us install a retaining wall in your landscape that will have a professional look and quality.
